Hasn't worked for years in the old PC, and with a new system on Windows 10 it still doesn't work. Only reason to stick to avast is the video download function. If they got the translate right + search google for image it would be the best in the world.

Almost 30 months later.... is this supposed to be fixed already?

I still cannot use the feature. Every time I try the Avast Browser, I waste lots
of time on this, having to check if this is the old problem, or if it have been fixed,
and I have run into a new problem.

If developers are not going to fix this, please show some respect for our time
and remove the feature from the menu.

The BUG report does not work anymore either, so the suggestion earlier in this
thread about reporting it to devs is also a waste of time. It will only take you to
the forum. And since the devs are not replying here... :p

So unless you surf pages in only languages you know, this browser is pretty much
useless. Why waste all that time developing it? I really don't get it...

Cheers

I've again reported this to Avast. Let's see if it helps.

Hi guys,

We are sorry to see that this still causes issues. There is a limit for number of translations per day. It usually exceed the limit and the feature temporarily does not work. The best way to fix is to create our own translation service or change provider. Until we have it, it's worth trying an extension from Chrome Store. For example:

You need to turn off extension guard in order to install this extension. Don't know why since it's a perfectly good and secure extension.

No, you don't need to disable Extension guard in order to install extension from Google Chrome store, the warning appears because the Google Translate ext. is not whitelisted.
You can just proceed with checking 'I understand the risks' and clicking button 'Install anyway'.

My Error Josef,
I missed the option to accept the risk.
