« on: June 07, 2018, 01:58:25 PM »
Hello,

would it be possible to obtain links to installations files of AV Free or IS for the 2015 version? Our corporate tool for connecting to VPN does not support any newer version of Avast.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Not much, these installers enforce the update to the current version and there is no way to stop this.

Many of the so called file banks, use the stub installer about 6MB in size and that is no good, as you have found that downloads the latest components.

Most also only keep old versions of avast free, not many that I have come across store the paid versions.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

What if you download one of the old installers (from filehippo, listed above), change/adjust your computer's (current) system date to the date that particular installer was released, and then run the installer?

If that succeeds in allowing installation of the old program, then be sure to change your computer's system date back to today.
Lenovo T530 laptop, Intel Core i5-3320M @ 2.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro SP1 (64-bit), avast! 17 Free, MBAM3 Pro, Windows Firewall, MVPS HOSTS file, OpenDNS Family Shield, Zemana AntiLogger Free, SpywareBlaster, IE11 & Firefox [both using WOT (IE set to WARN, FF set to BLOCK)], WinPatrol PLUS, uBlock Origin, MBAE, MCShield, CryptoPrevent, SAS (on-demand scanner).
[I believe computer-users who sandbox (Sandboxie) are acting prudently.]

What you see in the attached image of my previous post is the result of selecting an old version.  It isn't even on filehippo's site it is redirecting to another site where it is downloading the stub installer.  The irony is that it has avg in the download location.

Hi Daniel, probably better to update/switch the tool than running an outdated AV.

You are right, of course.

I was taken in by the fact that Filehippo reports the size of  v11.1.2245, for example, as 153Mb.

Sorry about that  :-\

When you install an older version, you need to download the offline installer and disable your internet connection.

If there is an Internet connection, Avast setup installer will automatically install the latest version.

Once the older version has been installed, change the Program Update type to manual and then enable internet access.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit • Avast Free (latest stable version) •  Malwarebytes 4 Premium (On-Demand) • Windows Firewall Control • Google Chrome • LastPass • CCleaner • O&O ShutUp10 •

Asyn, that would be awesome, however I have no bargaining power with the IT dept of a 10K+ employees organization:)

Thank you for the info. What alanb posted worked for me, so I went with that option.
