Hmm.  And do what with it?

After you've copied to clipboard, open Notepad, paste the info into notepad,
select save as and give it a name you'll remember. Save as .txt file and attach to the post.

I registered on avast forum for one reason only, and that's to express my anger and outrage that Avast had the unmitigated gall to install their browser without notifying me and without my authorization.  Adding to that, when I went into my settings, there was no option to reset my preference back to the browser of my choice.  I had to go into programs and features to uninstall the entire browser as well as the antivirus.  I have had avast for many years and am sorely disappointed in the manner of which avast now conducts its business and will no longer have anything from this company on my computer and will make known to everyone I know, as well as op-eds on tech websites.

It's my understanding that Avast is investigating and as Post #13 has stated, could use any log information in order to better understand/Resolve

As explained in the reply I linked too (13) Avast's intention were not to install without permission and,
If you think that's what happened to you, the they need your help to get to the bottom of the problem.
Without help, all we'll see here are complaints but no no solution.

Thank you for those who have voiced their issue with us, we always try to provide the best products and services for our users. It sounds like some have not had a good experience, I would be grateful if some of you could help assist us with this.

To clarify, you will only receive the browser in the following scenarios:

  • If you had SafeZone Browser installed on your machine you will have been automatically updated. Unlike the old SafeZone Browser you can uninstall Avast Secure Bowser independently of the Antivirus.
  • You accepted an offer to install the browser from the Avast Antivirus. This could have been on the first page of the installer of the Antivirus or from a post-update screen.
Aside from installing the browser from our product page or other website these are the only circumstances you should receive the browser. If an install occurred outside of these channels then there is a serious issue that we will need to investigate.

If you think think this applies to you would you be able to provide us with some more detailed diagnostics. This will help us investigate this issue further.

Please use the following steps:
Open the browser and click on the menu icon (3 dots)
Click on "Help and About Avast Secure Browser" and then "About Avast Secure Browser"
Click on "Diagnostic Information" (this will open a pop-up window)
Click the "COPY TO CLIPBOARD" button to capture the information

Please let me know if you have any problems accessing this information.

Thank you.

I believe I allowed the install a while back because, hey it's Avast, i'll give it a go at some point.  The problem is, why in the world would you have it automatically turn on and launch at startup? I'm not even using the browser, but have had it revert to "on at startup" a number of times.  As others have pointed out, this acts more like Malware, and is not something I'd expect coming from a security company.  I'm also surprised at the initial responses in this thread from moderators (I'm assuming these are employee's of Avast?), basically ignoring the stated issues.  This one, in my opinion, more properly addresses the issues and shows concern and an interest to fix the problem.

Lol, on a side note, this should be the last post I have to deal with the horrible captcha verification this forum uses. But when I go to type the letters in the box, it opens up the past responses to auto-fill ina  pop-up above the box... covering up the captcha box I'm trying to read...

I am also facing this issue. Avast has installed the secure browser overnight without my permission. I've copied the diagnostic information and wanted to ask you where I should send it to via PM but apparently I haven't made enough posts to do that. So where should I sent this to? Please help. Many thanks.

Very much agree with the user sentiments in this thread.

A) This software was installed without my knowledge or consent
B) It added itself to the startup menu on my computer
C) It prompted to be set as the default browser immediately

You have broken my trust, and once I took care of the malware, I pulled your antivirus program.

The mod responses in this thread are the most freaky part of this whole thing. You don't get to claim hijacking my browser was a 'bug' that was part of an automatically updated software that I clearly installed (being a forgetful, idiotic user) but don't remember. Not with any credibility!

I'm not here in this thread to prove my issue was genuine. I'm here as a courtesy to let you know that this behavior has lost you a ton of customers' trust.

It replaced the Safe Zone Browser which at one tme was install on your system. Asking to become your default browser isn't the same as taking over as your default browser. You needed to give it that permission.

This is a 100% lie. I always pay super close attention to this stuff and NEVER authorized a browser to be installed.

I Am absolutely Disgusted by this. I am a System Administrator and pay very close attention to anything I install or add. I document everything. I did not have SafeZone installed and I never accepted any download or install for Avast Browser. I noticed it downloading as it was chowing my bandwidth and data.I tried to stop the download but got blocked by Avast no less. Here is South Africa data is expensive and 300MB on a metered connection is allot. Who is going to pay for that?
And BAM next startup it was installed and prompted me to make it my default browser????? I did not add logs as I immediately uninstalled it, and then I uninstalled AVAST.

    NO TRUST, 0% ETHICS.
