Avast Secure Browser Installed Without Permission!

You might as well not bother with an on-access AV if your going to disable web scanning, the greatest majority originates on the web.  Most of the on-access AVs come with a web scanning module.

Your system your choice.

That's almost like selecting not to be protected.

In this age of increasing Malware etc, I can't understand the 'lack of understanding' the need for good virus protection that covers the obvious vectors of attack as David stated: the web shield

It happnes i have other means to protect from web shit, my choice not theirs, every product wants their own addon to track you, thats it, most of the attacks believe it or not can be prevented with a properly configured blocker like ublock origin. not specifically for malware but still can block most of it, no need for tons of security addons all of them slowing your browsing to a crawl and all of them collecting your browsing habits.

mail shield is covered at the server side so no need for anyone else to read my mails thank you, network shield is covered by other means as well as at the proxy side, again no need for more shit slowing the system, safeprice? security browser in addition to the avast browser? common, i can not believe you guys dont know what all this adddons are about, more tracking than securing.

you honestly think they stopped doing this in a free product? , you have to learn what to keep and what to discard when you use a free product if you are given the choice, if not well then use something else.

I think I followed the instructions.  Other than sending this to "you" I didn't see the next action step.
I like and use the Secure Browser.  I just don't want the damn thing to pop-up when I start my computer.

Then again, I'm old and cranky and it's way, way too early to try and deal with this.

What instructions did you follow? What are you trying to accomplish?

Could you please follow those steps and write us here if that solved your issue?

• Go to settings (Top right there are three dots -> settings or enter secure://settings/ to the URL bar)
• Locate section "On startup" where you will find "Launch Avast Secure Browser automatically when your computer starts"
• Turn off this setting

Also do you feel like you did not give us permission to enable this feature for you? If so I will investigate this further.

    Good Afternoon
   My internet provider was down early this morning, when is was restored,advised to reboot computer and modem,back to normal except pages were taking much longer to load than normal, speed check ok , went to internet properties, it was changed, opened control panel and Avast Browser was installed,I deleted it and my system is back to normal, I have been a big fan and user of Avast for years, have no idea how or why the browser was changed, I sure hope this doesn't happen every time

I just wanted to add something related. I did not request for Avast Secure Browser to be installed, but it didn't really bother me. I am comfortable with Chrome and Opera. However, I was shocked to find that when a default web page event was triggered, Avast Browser was brought up... because without asking me for permission, Avast software decided to make the Avast browser the default. Even though I explicitly selected Chrome as the default.

But what really bugs me Avast folks, is that you've set up some kind of scheduled update for the Browser to occur nightly. Every night at 12:15am, my laptop wakes from sleep and an Avast browser update process is launched, repeating every minute for about 4 to 5 minutes. Then... with the Avast Browser up and running, the laptop does not go back to sleep despite the power management settings. So the browser is doing something to keep the laptop from going back to sleep, probably streaming data to/from the Internet.   WHY?  I cannot find any settings in the browser to control if updates are automatic or manual, and if auto what the schedule would be.  WHY?

You are lucky that it installed.  I had a problem so I uninstalled it, and now Windows will  not allow me to reinstall it.   Stupid Windows 10 update.
