"Vulnerable Software" part of Smart Scan will not complete

Using the latest Avast free on W7 HP SP1. Tried repairing and restarting the computer, no dice. If I remove the software scan from the Smart Scan, it completes like normal. With it enabled, the graphic makes it appear as if it is completed but it hangs at the end and will not move on to the next part of the scans. Any idea what is going on?

Have you tried avast repair?

Yes, I mentioned that in my post. Went to Programs and Features under the Control Panel, right clicked on Avast, clicked on Change, then Repair. Then I restarted the computer and it still is doing the same thing.
