OrangeCrate,

In no way do I question your sincerity or honesty but I have to say, when I first went to that website you linked to (http://www.homeofheroes.com/valor/1_POWs/pow_rvn_detail.html), the Go Here for a Sample Alphabetical Listing link took me to a "Click the Fart Button" page.  Sometimes its an antispam sales pitch, sometimes a page not found.

Again, this is not a statement about you at all.  It just makes me question the site.

But to you OrangeCrate, I sincerely thank you for your service too.

It just makes me question the site.

mauserme,

I didn't look any further into the site than to find the list, though I just tried the link you referred to, and got a 404.

As mentioned in my original post, you can find the info several places on the web. Here's a Department of Defense site:

http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/pmsea/files.htm

Go to the bottom of the page, and you will see two PDF reports available under "US Prisoners of War". One of those lists those who returned alive, and another those who escaped captivity (of which there are only 35) during the war.

OrangeCrate, this thread is about the celebrations of the Independence Day, not about each other's participation in the army. I don't really think it is appropriate to verify someone's claims just because he says "I don't like fireworks as they remind me the hell in Vietnam."

Please stay on topic, and try to be nice here. Just a small reminder, this is an avast AV forum. The last thing we want to do is "act as nursemaids" (hell, we're software engineers ;))

Thanks (and have a good one)
Vlk

thanks mauserme and ardvark for the comeback :D

ardvark..live in evansville,indiana---love the 4th and what it stands for,but being a marine vietnam vet and shot 3 times and in a prisoner of war camp for @6 months basically in a hole,i don't do the fireworks anymore cause' of the sound if you can understand where i am coming from and why did god bless me coming back so sound minded when most of my brothers did'nt....GOD bless them all ;)

No, I'm sorry Vlk, but this thread wasn't about the 4th of July at all.

drhayden1's original post was a setup, waiting for someone to take the bait, so that a middle aged wannabe, who's seen Rambo too many times, could declare to the world what a war hero he was.

These people dishonor all veterans of any war, in any country, including yours.

I don't see anything like a setup in the 1st post of this thread, DO YOU? ::)

Geez. Is Crate your family name? Wait a moment, I don't see you in the records, Mr.Crate. Could you please explain that?

Maybe you've seen "Conspiracy Theory" too many times... :-\

OrangeCrate,

I accept drhayen's word for who he is just as accept your word for who you are.  I don't feel a need to do background checks to appreciate the knowledge/humor/insight you both bring to the forum.  I understand and respect your desire to protect the honor and memory of those that served but this thread really has taken a wrong turn.

This weekend I will thank God for my wonderful family, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy in America (while recognizing a need to prevent their continued erosion), and remember the warriors that protect both.  But I won't spend a moment of my time questioning those that helped.

thank you for the above statement, how true
As far as i am concerned this topic is closed...IT HAS GONE TOO FAR AND OUT OF HAND AND LOST IT'S TRUE MEANING

GOD bless everyone here on the forum and even to you orangecrate and if you can't accept that, then something is wrong in your heart and being a veteran you should not act that way toward another

have a good one avast! world :)
