usb flash
« on: July 02, 2006, 05:49:48 AM »
hay can I get avast to load on my flash drive? with out the resident protection. the scan and removal would be nice. But boot time scan running from the usb flash drive would be great. I got it running from my drive now (4-home) disabled the resident protection. and it works. I have not tried the boot time scan. But if thier is a way to load the scan and removal. Do you have a registration for this. this would be good to have to fix peoples pc.

I got spybot search & destroy running from the flash. works great.

avast! has to be installed in the target operating system to work correctly (with all available features). While its folder theoretically may be on a USB drive (though it probably won't be exactly fast), it needs some records in Windows registry, some files in system folder, etc.

Regarding fixing other computers and the corresponding registration - there's the "serviceman license" for avast! BART CD, which is meant exactly for this purpose. But of course, it comes at a significantly higher price.

Thank you Igor. Yes I have been playing with this since last night, and ran into several whoops. I don't mean to voilate the EULA. It just works so well on my pc. I wish I could get that boot time scan to clean up. Bart CD Looks very interesting, (as I was reading about it last night) But as you say, "costly". (not anough work to cover that.)
Yes you are correct very slow to run from USB. But the simply interface 2 ran a scan on c: pretty quick on my test pc. I hope it is alright to play with avast engine at home?? I have not tried to see if I could get it to boot time scan But I would like to try. Just board.

Vlk said that the licensing will be change in a near future... hope this include a lower price or an addition to Professional version  8)
