I need permission from Avast to delete a file
« on: June 19, 2018, 04:41:01 AM »
I'm trying to delete a file called Gramblr but it says "you'll need to provide
administrator permission to delete this folder".

When I right click on the file and choose Properties > Advanced, it shows
this beside administrators >> C:\Program Data\AVAST software.

How do I get permission back so that I can delete this file?

Hi mchgail,

Welcome.

Where did you get this file?  And why are you trying to delete it?

Why not use the more common method of Add/Remove or Programs and Featured to uninstall (your program)?
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 20H2 Avast Premier Security version 21.3.2459 (build 21.3.6164.652) UI version 1.0.612.

Is folder and file protected by avast ransomware shield?

What avast version do you have?

Avast Version 18.4.2338

The file lets you upload photos to Instagram. I'm deleting it because I no
longer need it.

It's already removed from Add/Remove but still shows in the registry. It
shows Avast as administrators so I cant delete it there.

I dont have ransomware
