It would be useful to be able to deactivate the "Sensitive Data" part of Smart Scan, just as one can deactivate any of the other parts in Settings -> General -> Smart Scan.

@Dix Huit.
See this thread re unwanted Sensitive Data scan. It can be got rid of.

Thanks rocksteady! :) I will try it.

what does enable offline mode from tray icon do ?

i clicked on it out of curiosity but nothing happened, at least it didn't showed up any notification or something like that.
I believe this is for Avast Firewall, enabling this makes all connections shut down.

I can confirm this option also appears on Free version of Avast, seems like a bug.

I noticed that as well.  Please fix.

I'm beginning to get annoyed by repeating myself in these forums. I have now installed Avast v.18.5.2342 free edition. Update with the offline installer or install via a clean install makes no difference to the issue. Problem is occurring on 2 different Windows 10 Pro version 1803 (OS build 17134.112) 64-bit PCs.

When I perform a Smart Scan, it is checking for Sensitive Data, which is a paid module that I have not paid for. Also the Software Updater component is not being performed in a Smart Scan.

The Sensitive Data problem occurred a while back in v.17.8.2318 and also in v.18.4.2338 which I previously reported. The Software Updater problem is a new problem.

Please can someone advise on how to turn off the Sensitive Data check in Smart Scan and get Smart Scan to run the Software Updater component?

… and in addition, clicking Resolve All after running a Smart Scan often results in a blank (white) Avast user interface. The only way I can fix Avast when this occurs is by rebooting.

Software Updater runs fine in Smart Scan for me, but I do have the problem of Sensitive Data being un-turn-offable. The ideas in the thread below did not help me, but they might you:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=219119.msg1467420#msg1467420

Note that the developers are planning to scrap Smart Scan, so these bugs will eventually go away along with it.

Try doing a complete uninstall (https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Uninstall-Antivirus-Utility), then reinstall (see "How to install" here).

If you have customized your settings they will be wiped out, so save them first (Menu -> Settings -> General -> Back up settings).  After Avast is reinstalled and running correctly, you can restore them.

It would be nice if Avast did what they sort of promised, make sure the last supported version for XP/Vista is bulletproof and this CPU cr4p with 18.8 forces people to go even further back to 18.5 (if they manage to get it).

I am not experiencing any CPU problems on XP with version 18.8.2356.  The only trouble is that sometimes Behavoir Shield gets deactivated.  But that has not happened for a long time.

Yes, I suppose so.  They could presumably fix this via microupdate if they wanted to.  I did receive "support" after the end-of-life in the shape of the old SafeZone browser suddenly disappearing one day.

I rather doubt a micro update would do it, given that the final version is 18.8, that is the one they need to make bulletproof allowing people to move to the final supported version.  Then it would be a case of downloading the full off-line installation file and installing it (whilst on-line).

But I'm not holding my breath.  Add to that I have had an unrelated problem with my old XP system, one that I haven't got the time or inclination to find the fault (hardware) and resolve it (cash, which would be better spent on a new system) :)
