I suggest, if you know the name of the trojan, do a search on the web for it. Some AV sites offer removal tools.

If you are not getting a virus warning that you believe is a new, undetected virus then if you can zip and password protect ('virus', will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces), or send from the chest.

If you have detected it using other means, you could also add it to the virus chest, open the chest, User Files, from the menu, File, Add.

Give a brief outline of the problem (possibly a link to this thread), the fact that you believe it to be a either a new, undetected virus and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can't do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
Or VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner

Your welcome.

Some of the detections are saying it is adware, which is something avast doesn't specialise in Or a Trojan-Downloader, which in itself isn't detected as it isn't a virus, however, if there is a downloader installed on your system when it tries to download malware a competent firewall that provided outbound protection should ask permission for it to connect. Do you have a firewall and if so what is it ?

If you haven't already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it. This will help with adware and spyware, etc.
1. Ad-Aware
2. Spybot Search and Destroy
3. Spywareblaster Don't install this until you are clean.
4. Ewido Security Suite If using winXP. or a-Squared free if using win98/ME.

Hi, This is a word of warning, you said that you had used an online scanner to check your PC, right?

OK some of those "Free" online services are just out right rip off dogs, and aren't to be trusted.

I accepted one of those "Free" scans from a company called "PEST PATROL", and those dogs flat loaded my system down with all kinds of spy\malware.

Not only did they contaminate my system, but they laughed in my face, and offered to sell me a product for $19.95 US that would remove all of the trash that their free scan had just deposited in my system.

Just something to think about before you let anyone do a free scan on your PC.
