@Gordon2, @Matthew370.
Agree, Avast need to investigate cause and fix the problem, as it seems wider impact than just scanned image PDF's.
Let's see what happens.

OK, so it would seem it's connected with creating a  PDF from the scanning software.

It is not connected with a scanning software.

I cannot delete, rename or move random PDF files that I have downloaded from the Internet. Most of them are created with various versions of MS PowerPoint. Some are created with PDF conversion software such as Neeva Document converter Pro (based on PDF document properties information)...

@ NP Fin Cpu,

Fix for this issue is already in the works and would work for AIS when it is finalized.

Avast Free Antivirus updated to 18.5.232 (build 18.5.3931.0) still having the issue after reboot. The .pdf files affected are not scanned files - please advise how to correct or when a "new" fix is available.

OK, that seems to have fixed it, now is there any word on a fix for the blank UI/unable to load UI modules issue?

There is no update involved for the fix apparently, I just restarted my computer as advised by MartinZ and the problem was gone.

So... almost two years later, same issue. Any hope of a fix?

Two years is a very long time and much will have changed since the original issue was the subject of the fix mentioned by the Avast Team.

The fact that you are experiencing what appears to be the same issue, you really should start your own new topic and give more details.
What were you doing, what it is your are experiencing, e.g what files/types and an error reported (screenshot) might help ?
