Everytime I boot my laptop, I get the error message 'The application was unable to start correctly. (0xc0000022)' related to 'AvastUI.exe' When I run it manually as an administrator it works, but when I set it to launch as an administrator in compatibility options, it doesnt work. How do I fix this? I get the same message for AvLaunch.exe. (I hope I posted this in the right location, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

I've tried
- Adding AvastUI.exe to Avast exceptions list.
- Scanning for corrupt files by running 'sfc /scannow' in CMD.
- Reinstalling
- Reinstalling in different directory
- Reinstalling in safe mode
- Enabling directplay in windows features.
- Running Avasts repair tool

Whilst you are in the right sub-forum, you don't give much information.

There have been some issues in the past relating to the 'AvastUI.exe not starting and I thought some recent program updates and fixes had resolved this issue.

What avast version are you using ?
Avast 18.5.2342 being the latest https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=219889.0.

Thank you for your reply!
I'm using the newest version of both the program and the definitions. (18.5.2342 & 180711-12) The error not only applies to AvastUI.exe, but also to AvLaunch.exe and ashQuick.exe, aswChLic.exe when I try to run them manually. Basically all executables which do not request administrator permissions. However, I am administrator on the system. So far Avast is the only software I've had this problem with. The error first occured after a fresh install of windows. (With the option to keep personal files) So when I installed Avast after the clean install of windows, I immidiately got the error. Before that everything worked fine. I feel like this does not have anything to do with Avast itself. Maybe theres something wrong in the registry? The only way to reset the registry, by my knowings, is to reinstall windows, which I could do. It will just take alot of time. Other than that I am really clueless.

As an avast user like yourself, there are areas of avast I'm not familiar with either.

Some of the files you mentioned are probably protected files, in that they aren't designed to be user initiated, i.e. it is Avast that launches/runs them, so the Avast self-defence module may prevent this and not just requiring Administrator privileges.

Have you tried running an Avast Repair:
Control Panel > Programs & Features > Avast > Change - Repair, reboot after reoair completes.

One executable that you should probably be able to run is the C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\AvEmUpdate.exe (Avast Emergency Update check).

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:
