Scan interrupted every time error 7005
« on: July 06, 2018, 02:11:41 AM »
I am having the same issue as this previous post from 2016 (see below), except that I have no idea what file the scan is stumbling on.  it seems to always stop at around the same # of files (appx 400,000--about 50% of the way through), but I don't know which particular file to test.  Any ideas on what I can do to figure out why I can't complete a scan and always get this 7005 error screen (I've run it maybe 14 times?--I uninstalled and reinstalled avast too, with no improvement)?  It isn't a problem with our internet, as it is working well.  Thank you. Kara

Hi, I'm a bit concerned. I noticed a suspicious file on my mac that I thought might be malware, and when I tried to scan it, before the scan even started, I was met with a notice that the scan had failed. An error message in red displayed: (Interrupted with error 7005: Connection to antivirus engine has been lost.) Also, whenever I try moving the item to the trash, I am met with a message saying that the item cannot be moved to the trash because it cannot be deleted.

Please help,
Zane

Greetings,

if you have identified the problematic file, please pack it and copy it to a log folder, which is sent to us via support package:

Right click it in finder, select "Compress file.name", right click the resulting .zip file, select Copy "file.zip", press cmd + shift + g, copy path /Library/Logs/Avast to the resulting window, right click empty space in the directory and select "Paste Item"; this will require root password.

After that please run Avast GUI, in menu Help->Avast Technical Support->Generate Support Package, please describe your problem and fill your name so we can match this with this post and send the package.

Kind regards,
