« on: July 05, 2018, 12:22:42 PM »
Hello!
Yesterday we got new console update.
Question, is Avast for business basic still free for use?
And how can update new console? For new console do we need to update license for paid?

Afaik, on the machines you (already) got it installled on, yes. Else, the product is outdated.

Thank you for this information. I assume this means if I install this on a new system, that it isn't going to be well protected? I may have to see about buying a license or moving back to the unmanaged free version.

Thanks

Dear Customers,

With the significant growth in cybercrime, the threat to our SMB customers grows too. As a result, Avast Business adjusted direction in 2017 with a new portfolio of products and updated cloud console. Avast for Business and Avast for Business Basic (Free) have not been available for new signups since that time (September 2017), and the end-of-life of these products has been discussed on the Avast Forum previously.

To provide additional insight, the Avast for Business Cloud Console was initially designed to offer free antivirus (Basic) with limited features. We then offered our customers the ability to upgrade to our Premium Endpoint licenses with upgraded features, also known as Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG).

Recently, we updated the subscription page for our Basic (Free) and Premium/PAYG customers within the cloud console with new functionality, enabling admins to upgrade to the new Avast Business Cloud Management console, plus a special discount to Avast Business Antivirus product licenses.

This has raised some new questions regarding the EOL of these products, which we'd like to help explain!

At this time, our product development team has not released an official end-of-life (EOL) date. This is in preparation and further detail will be available shortly. The details will also be shared via our website, the cloud console itself, as well as email. However, we wanted to share this information with the Avast Forum Community as quickly as possible.

Here's some additional details on the specific products:

- Avast for Business pre-paid licenses will be honored until they expire. When the EOL date is reached, these existing licenses will be smoothly migrated to an equivalent product in the new Avast Business product line.

- Avast for Business Basic (Free) consoles will continue to be honored and will operate until the program ends on the EOL date, at which time migration to the new Avast Business product line would be necessary.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me on this thread.

Regards,

Sean
