If only Avast would get a grip and simplify a process that is essentially unnecessary if as they say "registration is not required for Avast Free."

Currently it is just bonkers.
No arguments. I've argued that same point to death but as a user, I can only voice my opinion just like the rest of us. :)

@astyrakaki,
I had the same problem so I uninstalled using the free Revo uninstaller which after Avast is uninstalled scans for any left over registry files.  Click on that and remove the registry files.  Restart your computer, then install Avast again and do a custom install, then you'll have another year of free Avast.

Enough is enough. This is getting ridiculous and a total waste of time. There is an activate button that does not activate the damn thing. So … bye-bye Avast and hello Bitdefender!
