I don't have the 127.0.0.1 in the mail server wizard...I couldn't access any email until tech support from my isp told me to change to mail.my isp.net...am I not protected???
no viruses are showing in any scans that I do...

Cojo, if you do not have 127.0.0.1 like pop3 and smtp servers into each email account, you are not protected and you could receive an infected email!  :o

The scanning that you run are for 'cleaning' the house... The Internet mail provider (127.0.0.1) are for 'preventing' it to get dirty  ;D

Sometimes I just use "localhost", which is the same as 127.0.0.1

I believe "localhost" means exactly what is written in your hosts file it should mean. Of course, there's usually 127.0.0.1 there :)

Hey boys, we're lucky to have experts here...
As I said at the first time, use 127.0.0.1 (better and independent of 'localhost').

well, I embarrassed myself yet again...
my settings are correct... I think! :-\
I don't always see the "icon" that the mail is being scanned...
but 127.0.0.1 is in my settings for mail... :-[

I gotta quit posting when I am sick!
