html-paypal-b-phish?
« on: July 18, 2018, 06:19:05 PM »
My response center triggers a html-paypal-b-phish warning with avast free. The technicians say the problem is NOT in the system, but it is my computer. I had a technician go through my entire computer, all scans could not identify anything on my computer. Is this a false warning? I am hesitant to say it is okay if it is real malware....

I have the same problem:

Running latest Avast update. "HTML:Paypal-B [Phish]" is not in the list here: https://www.avast.com/virus-update-history

Can't find a solution anywhere. No anti virus producer has posts up about this.
Called Paypal and ofcourse there's nothing wrong with their website.
Avast comes with the error but can't detect any virusses on my PC.
Nor can any malwhare scanner find anything.

Please help and sort this issue !

This has NOT been resolved I just tested a logon to PayPal only for the alert to activate.  This, considering it is PayPal, needs URGENT action to resolve this.

Hi DavidR,

At various places this avast FP is being discussed, for instance at StackOverflow's.
Seems it is a misdetection of a "variable declared" inside the code causing this.
Should be tackled by avast team a.s.a.p. as the so-called genuine malware will arrive mail-included.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

The problem is that 'bauerj' has already stated this has been fixed, when clearly it hasn't and needs a resolution ASAP.

I am having the same exact issue.  It seems like they have released four updates as of yesterday.  The most recent one "-4" is where I started with the problem.

Avast, please advise.  This is a serious issue for those of us who us Paypal :'(

Info from Threat Lab: This detection was disabled, but since then we didn't release new VPS version because of some issues, it will be fixed in next stream update.

Someone needs a kick in the backside to get this sorted ASAP.

VPS version still the same 181019-4, the stream update is 181019-4_stream and the last stream dtg 20/10/2018 09:03 (local), which was just a few minutes ago.

Yet here we are still getting this alert.
