Disable HTTPS Scanning
« on: July 05, 2018, 08:32:40 PM »
I have the free version of Avast AV and Thunderbird for email, and often a pop up regarding a certificate pops up.

According to someone on the mozilla support forum, one of the steps to fix it is to Disable HTTPS Scanning:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER#w_avast

I am following that and looking at https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Use-Antivirus-HTTPS-scan, however, my screen looks like https://www.screencast.com/t/k71le7Z4d and I don't see an option for "Enable HTTPS Scanning".

Did something change? Is there still an option to uncheck "Enable HTTPS Scanning"?

It's listed under the WEB shield...
your screenshot is from the MAIL shield.
Lenovo T530 laptop, Intel Core i5-3320M @ 2.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro SP1 (64-bit), avast! 17 Free, MBAM3 Pro, Windows Firewall, MVPS HOSTS file, OpenDNS Family Shield, Zemana AntiLogger Free, SpywareBlaster, IE11 & Firefox [both using WOT (IE set to WARN, FF set to BLOCK)], WinPatrol PLUS, uBlock Origin, MBAE, MCShield, CryptoPrevent, SAS (on-demand scanner).
[I believe computer-users who sandbox (Sandboxie) are acting prudently.]
