Well, this is an interesting turn of events for you....what made you decide this

I've tinkered around with various distros in the past, primarily Red Hat 7.2 and can tell you most installation is command line, but this may be changing with the newer stuff.
Command line will require you to "know the Language" which I believe is UNIX, I'm not for sure. Some files will come with a linux equivelent of an .EXE file to begin installation, some will require you to make and compile them. Either way, you will need to use the command line, or shell, to execute these commands.
I don't have any system still loaded with Linux to bring back into my memory what a lot of those commands were but when you download programs, be sure to store them to your desktop.
If you're into gaming, I can possibly send you a WINE package that will allow you to play some of the Windows' games. I don't guarantee it will work, though.
Hopefully, there will be other folks who can answer your question better than I could.
