Uninstall Avast
« on: July 21, 2018, 10:51:48 PM »
If you have it installed, uninstall it.
It is crapware.
Trust me. 🤢
Windows Defender will automatically activate & protect you.

Defender has No Proactive protection unlike Avast,  Avast also is faster in various tasks, including opening folders with a lot of exe's,  scan time, Not about to uninstall it from my systems

What proactive protection are you referring to?
I still maintain two XP systems and have installed avast there, but I only ever install the
two shields... nothing else

For my main Windows 10 PC I've stuck with Window Defender.  On a really slow Windows 7 PC
(Dell Dimension 4600 Pentium 4 2.8 GHz single core) I'm running Panda Dome free

I used to complain a lot about avast in the past, but on my XP system it's almost transparent now,
I hardly know it's there.  And some of the things I got upset about in avast were eventually fixed.
So I appreciate that
AMD FX-4300 4GB DDR3
avast free 2279 (Windows XP), MBAM free

Cybercapture think called, Behavior Shield, Webshield,  All Good protection I feel, there might be more, but i'd have to look, I tried Defender for a while, but its slow, lacks protection in certain aspects in my mind,  and Avast Free works good on all systems

No XP Systems in service here

Just Windows 10, can't comment on XP

If you have it installed, uninstall it.
Windows Defender will automatically activate & protect you.
I did uninstall Avast (see another thread) and Defender didn't start after that. Took me a lot of time to find out that anyone switched some system entries to make Defender sleep.
Unbelievable ...

It wasn't Avast. I've on several occasion removed Avast for testing purposes. Once Avast was removed, Defender took over.

If it wasn't the previous AV tool: please just tell me - who has interests in the following mal behaviour after desinstallation of an antivirus program (no other AV-software installed):

HKLM/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Windows Defender – DisableAntiSpyware is set to “1”.
Three Services for Defender are deactivated & could not switched ON.
Several strange entries in group policies.

Most of them hard to kill.

It's your system. I simply stated that I've never had it happen on my systems or any systems from clients.

+1
I've never seen Defender 'not take over' after I've uninstalled Avast Security Products.
