Try the following:

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

If the repair or clean reinstall doesn't resolve this, it may be best to update AIS.

You have an old version of Avast Internet Security 17.7.2314 (latest version 18.5.2342) and a much more recent Windows Update, I don't know if this might not be having a compatibility issue.

I know about the algorithm for reinstalling the software, but it's too straightforward and time-consuming.
On this forum, I expect to see the reaction of the developer representative so that the specified bug for version 17.7.2314 has been removed.

Old versions of the software as far as I'm aware don't have any retrospective fixes/patches applied.

Bugs are generally worked on, usually on a beta versions (for the next monthly program update) and if that resolves it it is included in the next program update.  Unless there was an out of program update, included in the Engine and Virus Definitions update.  This would be more likely if the bug is serious and effecting many avast users.

For me it is easier to update the program from the User Interface and provided your license is still valid at no cost to the user.
