Avast passwords after profile user corruption
« on: July 29, 2018, 04:16:23 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm Italian so forgive me for any misspelling. Three days ago a power breakdown shut down my desktop and when I turned it back on my profile user was corrupted. In two days technicians were able to restore partially my interface, given that my registry was broken, but some programs lost my customizations. One of the side effects was on Avast Free Antivirus, in which I stored all my passwords, more than one hundred, but when I opened it again it showed no passwords at all.
How can I fix this? I'm sure that no files are missing, but probably this issue arose due to the profile corruption.
Thank you
Luigi

Next time store all your passwords in a .docx file, (Microsoft Word), password protected and save it in several locations, including a memory stick.

I was forced by my company to do so, due to sensitive documents.

Sorry for your troubles.

If your desktop is used in business, then they should provide you with this:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply

What happened to you just now will not happen again if you have an ups backup power.  Power goes out, you have time to shut down gracefully.  No data loss due to power outages.

Thank you for your answer. We do have a power continuity group, unfortunately that day it was under maintenance.
Anyway, despite my situation, can someone help me recover my passwords? I am pretty sure the file is somewhere but Avast cannot read it because it thinks that the "Name" profile it exists now has a different "ID" than the previous "Name".

I'm adding information.
OS Windows 7 Professional, x64
Avast Free + Avast Cleanup premium, both up to date
Previously Avira, for 9 years. Others: Malwarebytes antimalware, Ccleaner for the registry (its backup doesn't help).
Please provide

Well, if you didn't synchronize APW, your data might be lost.
If you did synchronize it, see: https://support.avast.com/article/92
