Note: That post is from 2013, but may still be applicable today.

Asyn https://support.avast.com/article/GDPR-FAQ
Does Avast share my data with third parties?
When you purchase products or services, your data such as IP Address will be collected by Google Analytics to help us analyze and improve on the purchase process.
When we have a software bug, a software crash, or a network failure, your data such as IP Address will be used by third party analytics such as Google Analytics and Firebase analytics to help us understand the failure.

The reason why the avast UI contains an analytics module is to help us better understand its usage patterns. As you may remember, the UI in v8 has changed quite dramatically and we wanted to have a good way to understand how people actually use the UI, where are the hot spots, what's the typical flows, where people are dropping out etc etc. This all with the hope that it will ultimately allow us to restructure the UI in a way that will suit best most of our users. We're already taking some of these findings into account now while designing the v9 UI.

Avast team, please answer, why third party service google collect user data in UI in paid antivirus ? If:
General - Privacy:
Participate in the community - Off
Allow usage data to be shared with 3rd parties for analysis - Off
Show offers for our other products - Off
Show offers for 3rd party products - Off
Help improve our other apps by sending usage data to Avast - Off

I would say, as a user, that avast has become quite aggressive at collecting "analytics" and has been for a while
Anybody who can't see that must have their head in the sand.

You should see the uproar and disgust in the CCleaner forum.

There is always a choice of apps but most are too lazy or complacent to do some research and change.
This is what avast and similar bank on.
AMD FX-4300 4GB DDR3
avast free 2279 (Windows XP), MBAM free
