Avast blocking Windows 10 Store Apps
« on: August 12, 2018, 02:06:29 PM »
Hi

So I decided to purchase Avast Premier. I have done the standard install on Windows 10. I then discovered that all my Microsoft Store apps stopped working. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Netflix, Mail and Calendar, Shazam and many others.  :'(

I have done a search on Google, but so far no luck finding a solution.  :-\
I have also searched the forum (maybe done wrong) and no luck finding a solution.  :-\
I have also gone through the Avast settings to see if I change some parameters it will work. No luck by doing this.  :-\

I the disabled all avast Shields Controls (9 of them) and then all the apps work as expected.  ???

Please let me know what setting is blocking this or how I can make sure that the default installation does not stop me from using the Microsoft Store apps.  :o

Thank you

The Avast is a clean new installation and the Windows Store apps stopped working directly after the install.

Tried the repair and reboot suggestion. Still the same problem.

OK, narrowed it down to the Avast Firewall so far.

Is firewall network profile in puplic or private mode?    Try change mode also try internet Connection Sharing Mode on/off

Tried both Public and Private network.
Internet connection sharing mode on/off also does not work.

Also noticed that by adding rules for the specific ports used by the apps do not work.

That's a workaround not a fix. There has to be more to this than meets the eye or this forum would be deluged with complaints.
