VPN does not give correct IP adress
« on: July 26, 2018, 10:06:29 AM »
if I choose in VPN an IP address from the Netherlands, google says I am in England and if I check the IP address it comes from the Czech Republic. How is that possible? I want to come from the Netherlands via a real IP address.
For me it is very dissapointed and I cannot get any information on Avast website about this.  :(
How can I get an IP adres only from the Netherlands?

Maybe you're not doing the search properly ???
Try the following: https://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address

When I use some site other than 'Optimal location' city, country I get a true originating vpn address most every time.

If I use default 'Optimal location' city, country I someimes see what you've seen.  Easy enough to change IP address using Optimal location.  Just disconnect and reconnect.

For examples see below:

You'll note Brazil is a hosting isp on the fourth .png attached.  This would be something like you connecting to Czech Republic, which, btw, I've also seen using Optimal location by default.  So it is not always Chicago IL, it can be Kansas.  EDIT:  Kansas or other location.

A second post follows below with an attachment for Kansas.

I asked my tech person if I should get VPN and he said no. It would only cause trouble. I was going to disable the constant VPN pop ups (ads) sent by Avast (I have several other paid for things from them) but I now find it amusing how FAR off they are when they tell me where I am because they can read my IP address because they have never once been right - right country and state but not even in the right city. They ask in their advertising pop ups if they are right but they don't give you the chance to say "No. Not even close" not a good way to sell a product really but very amusing.

Before you can state that you're getting the wrong information, you need to ask your ISP where they are located.
The "guess" isn't related to where you live but where the IP address is located. They don't need to be the same thing.
A VPN allows you to hide your location and encrypts all your information. Maybe your ISP provider doesn't like the fact that when you use SecurLine,
they no longer have access to your information since it's encrypted and they can't unlock it.
Just my personal observations.
