would love to remove Ads from Avast Free version
« on: August 16, 2018, 12:37:55 PM »
Dear All / Anybody,

I have installed the Avast free version and I truly like it. Except for the constant reminder (almost daily) to upgrade for more features. I want to turn this off - as I am aware of what else I can get from upgrading my product. Any help wud be great

Thank you,

There is no way to do this in the free version.

I have been using avast free for over 14 years and in those early years there were ads, but they weren't so frequent and were confined to the bottom 1/3 of the main UI.  Now they are in popup up form which makes them more noticeable, but I don't see them every day.

I believe that you as a new user are likely to see more frequent ads/promotions in your early months with Avast, but it should become more balanced.

You can try to turn on silent mode in Settings-General. that suppress all messaging, including ads

Silent mode also hides notices that you should see. It's your computer and your choice.
If the ads really bother you, buy the product and disable the ads. I hardly ever see any and when I do,
the X in the upper corner is very easy to reach. :)
