So here is a weird thing Avast does I recently noticed:
If a file is found with a suspected infection, I get an alert with a screen asking me what I want to do. Move it to the Virus Chest or add an exception. Or report a false positive.
There isn't an option to do nothing. But I can at least still just close the screen and not make a choice. So, fine. Annoying, convoluted, but OK. ( I need to just let it be sometimes*, without keep adding exceptions that I then later have to remove again)
However, then there will be a notification that a file was moved to the Virus Chest. Which it WASN'T! To be clear: it shouldn't, because I didn't tell it to do so. But the notification still says it was moved. So that is confusing, and made me double-check if the file in question was still present on my system or whether it was quarantined.
That notification is incorrect. Having that screen pop up does not mean a file was also moved to the Virus Chest, as there are other options.
*: this does not mean I'm trying to run the executables that are suspect. I might just be unpacking and repacking them.
