Can't uninstall Avast Premier to reinstall it

Hi
I can't do anything with Avast Premier because I put a password on it ages ago and I can't remember it. So I had heard that if you uninstall Avast then restart your computer you should be able to reinstall Avast without any password being there.
The problem with attempting this is that when I try to uninstall it asks me for the password and won't uninstall, so can anyone tell me how to fix this situation.

Thank you very much for your responses, it doesn't look too difficult so I'll go and try it.
Will this remove the password on the `Passwords` program from Avast too? 'cos I have the same problem with it in the password area.
I must remember to wind up my brain in order to remember all these passwords. lol
