For some reason, I can't continue using the computer for at least 2 hours after installing software, because according to the task manager (which takes about 15 minutes to show up), avast service (32bit) is using in excess of 70% of the CPU (quad core), which slows the computer way down to a crawl and further use of the PC is halted, and each core temperature rises to around 56.6C (shown by core temp), and I have to try and use the Radeon catalyst controller to reduce the CPU speed down to around 800Mhz, from 2.8Ghz, which does reduce the temperature, but takes around 2 1/2 to 3 hours for avast to finish what it's doing.
When avast has done whatever it's doing, and everything returns to normal, I can then increase the CPU speed and return to using the PC as normal, but as soon as I install a program, avast then kicks in, and I can't use the PC for at least 2 to 3 hours, after reducing the CPU speed to lower the core temperatures.
I'm using:-
Windows 10 home premium (build 1803 x64) with all current updates.
AMD 2.8Ghz quad core APU
ATI Radeon 2GB VRAM GFX card
2TB HD
8GB system RAM
Why would avast slow everything down and use as much as 70% or more CPU resources? Oh, and I almost forgot,,, the task manager does also show avast as using as much as 85% memory, spilling over to the swap file.
