« on: September 21, 2018, 01:05:25 PM »
Hello everyone,

We’re pleased to announce that we have released a new stable version of Avast Secure Browser (ASB) - version 69.0.792.82.

Release Notes:
  • Updated: Core codebase to Chromium 69 (https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2018/09/stable-channel-update-for-desktop.html). This includes a refreshed UI.
  • Updated: Geolocation API to use Avast’s own service
  • Updated: Reduced delay for updating extensions in Bank Mode
  • Updated: Default Doodle on New Tab page
  • Added: Support for importing notification preferences from Chrome
  • Fixed: Some instances where onboarding window was showing infinite loading animation on acceptance
  • Fixed: Onboarding window wasn’t recognising installed browsers
  • Fixed: Inspect views not showing in Extension Page
  • Fixed: Pre-installed extensions would remain enabled even if a user had disabled them
  • Fixed: When launching on logon,  sometimes two windows would open automatically
  • Fixed: Some cases of importing bookmarks hanging
  • Fixed: Some cases of browser crashing a few seconds after launching Bank Mode
  • Fixed: Browser alert dialog sizing bug
  • Fixed: Extension Guard popup design fixes

How to install:
1. If you have ASB already installed, it should be updated automatically (feel free to visit ‘secure://settings/help’ to trigger an update faster)
2. Alternatively, you can download and install ASB from our official site here: https://www.avast.com/secure-browser

We hope you enjoy the changes we have made, and as always we would love to hear your feedback.

Hi

Very pleased to have improvements, sincerely. But what happened to my faves from the old version? I mean I had my key bank logins set up right there - now its blank like a fresh install.

Also noting minor glitch with shortcut in win10 taskbar not keeping up - but that could be due to win10.

Any help welcome before I have to recreate by hand. ::)

(also ffs verification imagery is too hard!!!! this isn't NASA!)

Hi

After problem with updating my installed avast secure browser (it failed searching for updates an error code was showing) I followed the link here and downloaded and installed the browser. But my version is 69.1 852.101 . So whats the difference from 69.0.792.82 ? Is it a later version or just an later update ? I also run Avast anti virus pro.

69.1.852.101 is now the latest version on ASB.
I manually downloaded ASB from the website as there are issues with "IN Browser" Update function at the moment.
I understand the Issue should be resolved in a day or so. :)

In Chrome you are able to switch to old UI. Is this also the case in the ASB?

My browser wouldn't open so I uninstalled it.  Tried to reinstall but I can't.  Shows installing once, then installing twice, then an error message. I used it as my default browser so how can I reinstall it?

The last few times I have tried to log in with ASB I could not get online however could easily get online with chrome... seems I have the latest version not sure what is up with that if it is just a fluke few time thing time will tell I guess.  When I check for updates dns gets repaired and we are off and running again... another new thing when I sign in I get the message media failed... not sure what it means.
win 8.1 (64) avast version 18.5.2342(build) 18.5.3931.0 apparently this is Premier version according to an internet search on that version number above.. tho it does not state this in about or any other place on my computer...

Once again the browser is not updating.
Found out there is a later version when I reinstalled on my notebook.
Had to download installation file to update browser.

In my opinion, kind of undermines security if you do not know if a later version is available.
Could be easily placed in this thread when there is an update, by avast.

I hope this is the latest version 70.1.973.111.
I don't even know how long this version has been available?.
I wonder how long I have been using an outdated version.    :o
