AVAST v10 (if winXP can't run v18)
« on: October 01, 2018, 07:30:41 AM »
many winXP users have issues with avastUI not loading after a reboot, since updates from dec '17 & march '18 and later, if you cannot get v18 working, v10 works on XP sp2+ and is from 2015, but better than nothing, and database updates still work.

the post above is for v8 but the same server link now hosts v10.2.228 instead, which is not the best as no HIPS feature and file exclusions may not work [both work in v10.3+] -but grab it while you still can as likely someone forgot to delete it!

for the last version of 10 [10.4], the non-official link below was kindly provided by regular forum user bob3160, so is probably legit as he seems like a good bloke, it tested ok on virustotal.com, and signature seems valid, but you should do your own checks [or use above links if unsure]:

maybe so, but what if someone hacks his google drive and compromises the file?
less likely to happen on that avast server unless it's so old that was left in an abandoned building somewhere with the power still on... ???

Maybe after you've grown up and been here a while, you'll learn a few things about Avast and this forum.
Have a great day. :)

Instead of taking the link out of context, it would have been nicer to use the actual link
that included the download to this version: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=164936.msg1322691#msg1322691

You need to give up the condescending attitude Bob, other members are allowed to offer advice and ask questions without your arrogance in return ::)

Nothing condescending. Simply some friendly advice.

Off topic but it referred to growing up in the Avast community. (length of time spent on this forum)

look again, that same link to your post was right there after the word 'source' - the direct link above it was so people don't get confused with the SSE2 stuff which is irrelevant unless using a very old single core CPU which should not even be online these days unless viewing only basic sites without modern media content.

and don't worry, i won't be hanging around here to 'grow up' as it's just a phase of a few weeks since i've been tinkering with avast almost every day because of this issue.
