My Avast Secure Browser keeps crashing randomly. I cannot have it open longer than a minute or two before it randomly shuts down on me.

I have gone to the FAQ and done all the steps listed there. I have restarted the browser, restarted my computer, and uninstalled and reinstalled the browser. I am still having the same issue.

I have also scanned my computer for viruses using Avast's antivirus software twice and both scans turned up clean.

Any help would be appreciated. I have hated every browser I've ever tried except this one. It's the fastest, simplest, safest browser I've ever used and I have never had any problems with it until today so I would hate to have to go back to suffering with bogged down, slow, vulnerable browsers.

Hi
Please provide more info.

- Which Avast are you running? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version..?
- What OS and build? (32/64 Bit)
- Any other security-related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

I use the free Avast Antivirus

Both the antivirus and the browser are the latest version. I just updated the antivirus a few days ago and reinstalled the latest browser version last night

Windows 10, 64 bit

Just the default Windows Firewall which has never conflicted with Avast before. I have no other 3rd party antivirus software installed.

I've used Avast for years and years, back when it had that ugly early-2000s looking UI. If I go back that far, I guess I would have used Norton (which is awful) but I've gone through several computers since those days. Avast has been my only antivirus program on all of them.

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.
A video to help with the installation: https://youtu.be/r_VLA0HMLQM
Report back if that's solved the problem or not.

Thank you. I followed the steps you suggested and have been using the browser for a few hours now with no crashing so far. Let's hope it stays that way. Thank you for the assistance.

I am having the exact same problem and it is imperative that I get to my bookmarks. I found the bookmarks files so they are still intact. I downloaded the uninstall program per your above link and uninstalled it. It is trying to install v70.0.917.103... I am having the exact same issues that bob3160 had but your fix is not helping. I have no avast secure browser and I can't get to my bookmarked files.  running windows 10, plenty of disc space.

@jjgielas
If you're not using the Avast Secure Browser, you don't have the same problem.
Please start your own topic and explain in as much detail as possible what problem you are having.
