New VPN feature is defective and crappy
« on: October 15, 2018, 10:28:56 PM »
Your stupid VPN thing keeps telling me that every Wi-Fi I connect to, including at home, is dangerous because I'm not paying to use the avast VPN service. Take that crap off or I'm going to remove Avast from ALL my devices, AND recommend to ALL my clients NOT to use ANY Avast product. What happened with you people? You used to be a good A/V provider. But now, all you losers care about is money. You got greedy. And you are losing thousands of LONG TIME loyal customers because of your greed. Take this stupid VPN crap off my devices NOW!

If you don't want the VPN, either use a custom install and don't install it or,
If already installed, remove the Component
Open Avast, select Menu (Top Right) > Settings > Components scroll down to Privacy >
Select to Remove SecureLine

Pretty sure that's not what he's talking about.
I have Avast Free Antivirus installed on my work laptop and it does the same thing.
Refuses to stop letting me know that my internet activity is not as private as I think.

While my Avast Premier installation on my home computers don't advertise VPN as much (pretty sure it does but not as invasive), I will also be opting out of Avast's services - I just realized I have two Avast licenses, one Premier and one Internet Security, and I can only see one license in my account.

EDIT: Plus, I'm currently in the Philippines for business and noticed that it costs 1390PHP (25.79USD) for a 3-PC 1-Year subscription of Premier. Worldwide price is 99.99USD. Similar thing for Bitdefender - we should all just get licenses from the Philippines, unless there's some reason I'm missing that prevents us from doing that.

 >:( In order to change my credit card, I had to stop auto renewal and start a new license. Now the new license won't connect although I've correctly activated it. As you say, their support has nearly disappeared and my support request via the website email came back undeliverable. I am just going to dispute the charge on my credit card. Any thoughts on a better service? I am abroad and need a system that actually works. Needless to say, I had a heckuva time trying to read their dang letters for verification and there is no possibility to listen.
