Canceling the free trial
« on: October 23, 2018, 07:28:00 PM »
At find my order it says: Subscription status - cancelled. Beneath it it says: Changes might take some time to take effect. Once completed, you will receive an email confirmation that automatic billing was successfully stopped. If you need help, contact us at http://www.avast.com/support.

I'm trying to cancel my subscription after the free trial but I haven't recieved a confirmation e-mail yet.
Can someone help please help me.

Hi
Please enter your 'order portal' with the Order ID and Password provided in the email you received after you registered.
Click on Manage Subscription and then choose "OFF" on Auto Renewal. A confirmation window will appear, scroll down and apply.

I've only had the free trial for one day but I now want to cancel it. I don't want to wait for the 60 days. How do I do that?

Here you see that I've cancelled it but it hasn't sent me a confirmation for the automatic billing.
How long does it take to fully stop the billing? It has been 2 weeks.

Hi,
OK for reply#1 but how can users who have accepted the trial through the IU to terminate it before 60 days when they do not have an order number (no more license key) ?

Edit:
On the other hand - even for an active subscription , I'm not talking about trial - your screenshot is not universal and not all users have the same procedure
As far as I am concerned, for 6 years I was going through NEXWAY (screenshot 1), 15 days ago I went through Digital River (screenshot 2), I always disabled automatic renewal but I never received confirmation by e-mail (SPAM included).
I only have as proof the (stopped) status of my online subscription as on the screenshots.(and in my.avast.com account)
As my payment method is Paypal, I have also stopped my pre-approved payment on it.

Hi Chris

When you started the process to Try the product (Trial) did you have to submit payment ID  information ie>Credit/Debit Card info?

I edited my previous answer
Hi Chris

I am not personally concerned by the trial offers (I pay on time if I want the product I have had for years).
But to answer your question, it also depends on the trial offer.
If you already have a paid product and want to try another paid product, avast necessarily already has our bank details for the 1st product and the history has shown that avast does not hesitate to use them for another product.

For a first trial of a paid product, I assume as you say that avast asks for the bank details (or PP account) but - at least for French users - they do not go back to having received an order number and a future activation key whose renewal they could stop (1st payment in fact) as on your capture.Nor pre-approved payment (for Paypal) they can close during the trial period.
it often results in a refund after the trial... but it's a little too late ;)

In fact my intervention here was more to answer a user on the French forum who already has a  paid product (premium) that he wants to keep but who wants to stop the trial offer of another product (cleanup), he nowhere finds the trace of an e-mail (order number) nor the trace of this test on his customer account with the same identifier (e-mail)
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=222976.0

In short, all this to say that many members report on this forum their worry and misunderstanding about stopping a trial version and avast procedures are not always very clear on this subject
a "stop trial" button on the program itself would be more appropriate than a combatant's course offered by avast, but I guess it's not in their interest to do such simple things.

I am only speaking from my personal experience as an Avast user.
I have participated in many Trial offers for various Avast products over the years.
IF it has been required, that I enter Payment details/Credit Card info..... then I have "always" gotten an email with the transaction information/transaction ID etc (Just as my screenshot shows)

In some case, I have not been required to enter payment information and have not received any responding communication of the transaction. ONly when the trial runs out/or gets close have I then received notification of trial ending.
That's been my experience in this matter.

Edit: When I have participated through the UI I have been taken to an order Page and been required to enter Payment info in which I then received an email with Order ID etc.

There very well could be other processes that I have not experienced.

During the trial period? I don't think so
the information of a transaction is made (at least in France) on the "D" day but never 60 days before. Otherwise it is a quote
When was your screenshot taken? before  October 19th (during trial) or after (payment already made)?

my experience is that when the trial runs out/or gets closed, we don't receive anything from avast, or if we receive something (if it's not in spam), we don't have much time to react and if we don't check our mail regularly, it's often too late.
whereas if we had the (simple) possibility to stop a trial by ourselves when we want without waiting for avast to give us a short ultimatum , it would still be more honest
it's more of an avast takeover than a choice left to users
But I respect your opinion to find this method as the most logical and commercial way to go. :)

If you used the 30 day trial, it ends and is over. If you signed on for the 60 day trial,
you also gave your CC information and you need to cancel before the 60 days end or be charged for the product.

That's all users want, to be able to stop the trial.
It's not always as simple as you think it is when there are no emails, no orders , no links in our avast accounts.
It is often necessary, in retrospect, to request a refund after invoicing.
OK, avast refunds the purchase easily but it is always a constraint

I know you're going to answer that this is not true and that avast always leaves a trace to stop the trial before the end, but it's not my opinion or my record of experience  :-\

Moreover, if someone could provide a detailed screenshot that would show us how to stop the test before the end.
Because the screenshot given by schmidthouse does not show it.
it just shows how to cancel an automatic renewal for next year (expiry date: 9/8/2019) when the 2018 payment has already been made

I, like you, don't work for Avast. Have no clue if they have other ways of getting information when you can't find yours.
I never use a 60 day trial. If I don't give my CC info, there isn't anything to charge and nothing to worry about needing a possible refund.

It seems to bother you to look for solutions to help those who wanted nothing more than to try an avast product (who don't use like you and me).
This is the principle of the trial, users check if it is appropriate
if so, they continue, if not they stop
But in all cases (with avast) they provided their bank details and more or less they want to know how to prevent charge if they don't like product

your own vision does not answer the main question : how to stop a trial before the end
If you can't answer it with links or screenshots of the specific case, you don't have to answer next door.
It's like if someone came to ask me where to find gas for his car and I told him "no need to search if you don't have a car" ;D
