Avast! Endpoint Protection Suite & WIndows 10
« on: October 31, 2018, 02:10:00 PM »
I am have a problem with Avast! on a Dell laptop running Windows 10.

Let me start out by saying I have several Windows 10 PC's running Avast! with no problem.

This is a brand new laptop.  I pushed the client out to it and it installed on the laptop.  But then all kinds of weird things started happening.

1. When I try to install any new software I get a 0x00000005 error.
2. I also get the same error when just trying to run existing software
3. I cannot un-install Avast!.  It gets an error that software doesn't exist even though it is definitely there.
4. The Avast! Service never starts up after rebooting.  Sometimes I can manually install it and sometimes it gets an error when starting.

So I tried to do a Windows reset and that failed.  The first time this happened I thought the problem was the laptop itself.   I contacted Dell and they though the SSD had gone bad.  They sent me a new laptop.

Just got the new laptop and everything was working fine until I installed Avast!  Immediately started having the same symptoms.  On this laptop I was able to do the Windows RESET which got rid of AVast! and laptop seems fine without AVast! on it.

By the way I am running nothing special to comflict with Avast!.  Basic setup is just WIndows 10 and Office.

I have opened up a case with Avast! but so far have not heard anything.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I just submitted again.  I needed an answer two days ago.  New case # is 07417089.

If you can do anything to escalate this it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not really sure of any other way to reply back.  The automated email I was sent is no-reply.

How were you expecting me to reply back on Friday?

I believe I just found the answer to my problem elsewhere on the forum.  I found this.  I have contact support again to request this...this isprobably going to make another case for me...I haven't received it yet.

Microsoft has released the April update (Windows 10 RS4) for Windows 10. This note is to inform you that Avast Endpoint Protection, Avast Endpoint Protection Plus, Avast Endpoint Protection Suite, Avast Endpoint Protection Suite Plus, Avast File Server Security, and Avast Email Server Security are not compatible with the Windows 10 April update. Customers using these Avast products will receive notification that their Avast software must be uninstalled before Windows 10 can be updated successfully.

Customers who are not planning to upgrade to Windows 10 RS4 should stay on their current Avast products. However, for those customers who are using the above-mentioned products and moving to Windows 10 RS4, we urge you to upgrade them to the Avast Business products before updating to Windows 10 RS4.

To migrate to the new Avast Business products, contact Avast Business Support. Support will provide the comparable product licenses to what your customers currently have and guide you through the migration process.

Asyn has reported this so I suggest you wait for a reply from Avast.
