Uninstalled Avast, important files deleted.
« on: November 16, 2018, 12:37:09 AM »
I updated avast and restarted my computer. I had previously restarted with no problem after I updated another application. My computer would not start back up. It was stuck on the Lenovo loading screen. I went into safe mode and determined since the only change I made was updating avast I would try uninstalling the program. I went into add and remove programs and uninstalled it from there. I then restarted my computer and it seemed fine. That was until I tried opening quickbooks and suddenly it could no longer find the file. I had the same problem while trying to open Word and Excel! The files are still in the program folder but suddenly my laptop cannot find them. I have run malware bytes but it isn’t detecting any issues. Sorry for the long winded bit I am just very frustrated. Can anyone help with this issue?

Which paid version of Avast were you using ???
Sounds like files may be locked by one of the components.
I'm on the free version you'll probably need to waif for someone that's using the same version as you
or, Avast.

I am not sure which paid version at the moment m. I am doing a system restore now to two days ago. I am just lucky to have had a point so soon to restore to.

Curious, what was the other "application" you updated before you updated Avast?
