Is this normal?
« on: November 16, 2018, 01:17:27 PM »
I'm running avast internet security and my pretty speedy system has annoyingly slowed down with Avast seemingly the culprit. Is the attached running process log normal now? BTW i'm running windows 10 64bit and avast says it's version is 32bit

1. Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

The clean up tool seems to work. A bit like Flash used to be like in the old days before they did automatic uninstall on updates.
The processes have settled down now but wondering why the annoying Avast Driver Updater process is running - as I don't have this. Is this why I keep getting pop ups bothering me about out of date drivers

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Privacy

Thanks.   I hope it gets rid of the lurking avast device driver updater too!

Thanks.   I hope it gets rid of the lurking avast device driver updater too!

It certainly isn't lurking on my system (Avast Free), it was in the various versions as far as I'm concerned as a hook it would crop up now and then to suggest you install it, as soon as you went down that path it would then seek payment.

Presumably you haven't paid for it, so go into the AvastUI > Settings > components and if it is listed there uninstall the Driver Updater component.

Though it is listed in the AvastUI > Performance section, but is only active if you purchase it.
