Ok, turns out my VPN wasn't working because of Avast virus protection.
Crazy right ?
After not getting any reply on the forums and from the customer support, I decided to try out another vpn, just to see if I could isolate the problem. So I buy a 1 month nordvpn and guess what ? It wasn't working either. At first I thought it had something to do with windows update. I rolled it back, didn't work. I opened a ticket on nordvpn website, and started chatting with tech support. After 2 hours of trying different methods, the dude told me to delete avast virus protection. I uninstalled all avast products and voila, VPN started working again.
What I don't get is, how can Avast virus protection interfere with it's own VPN. Makes no sense. Nordvpn tech guy was also baffled by this.
Anyways, now I'm torn in between refunding avast or going back.
