I had a failure on my hard drive. Replaced hard drive and did a fresh install of Win 10. Will I be able to recover my Avast Browser Bookmarks?

I do have access to the old drive and much data is recoverable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Only if you had saved you bookmarks to a html file.
If that was done
, you should be able to find the file in Documents folder.
You can save your bookmarks by opening the bookmarks manager and selecting
export bookmarks.
This should make it easier, https://youtu.be/Wo17zZdvUvA

Hello Ward85122,

Actually there is a way. But its not official so i can not guarantee you a success, but i just tried it and it worked for me.

  • On your old hard drive locate browser profile folder: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\Default
  • From this folder copy file Bookmarks (If this one is not available or is damaged, try Bookmarks.bak just rename it to Bookmarks). Both files are actually text files so you can see their content with notepad
  • On your new machine close all windows of Avast Secure Browser. And if you are using Avast AV disable self-defense (It is in Avast AV UI -> Settings -> General -> Troubleshooting)
  • Now copy your Bookmarks file to the new browser profile folder C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\Default
  • Start browser, and bookmarks should be present

Fingers crossed :) and dont forget to enable Avast AV self-defense afterwards
