Behavior Shield Keeps Turning Off on Boot
« on: November 25, 2018, 09:45:41 PM »
I've dug around the forums to see if anybody else has posted about this, but I couldn't find any other feeds on this topic.
Every time I boot my computer, the Behavior Shield is turned off again, and I have to manually re-enable it. Is this just a bug of this release patch? I don't remember this being this big of a problem in previous releases.
I appreciate any help, advice, or support on this topic.
Thank you.

The Behavior Shield needs time and resources to start when the computer is turned on, but if there are too many other programs starting at the same time (either in the computer's start up list or by the user) then the Behavior Shield can't start in the allotted time and fails to start.

I have managed to avoid this problem by limiting startup programs, and waiting about 30 seconds when the desktop appears before I start any programs.

I believe this is a special behavior of the actual version.
After the last update (10 days ago) I noticed the same problem, but only one time.
This is also the reason, why I am here now (only to get security, no malware is the reason).

Did you try to wait after start?
Perhaps the function activates after a short time by itselfs, may be it needs more start time.

After your reporting, I am really sure, that a software issue causes this problem.

Be sure that you're running the latest version.

Use the off-line full installer rather than the stub installer.
Reboot the system after the update.

In response to priestlucas123, I only have 15 programs on my startup list, most of which are pretty light on resources, such as my gaming keyboard software, among others. The only process that might be a little heavy is iTunes, but that's about it.
As for doing a full clean and reinstall of the software, including rebooting to safe mode, that seems a bit excessive to me. I'll try the repair utility built into the Control Panel and let you know of the results.

If iTunes if the only potential resource hog, I would suggest disabling it at startup, and also once your desktop appears wait a minute or two before you start any programs to see if this allows the Behavior Shield to start properly.

With my computer, I only have two items in the startup list but I know if I run a program too quickly once the desktop appears then the Behavior Shield doesn't start so I just wait a minute then all is good.

As you can see, I have lots of things starting when my system starts up.
I never have a problem with Behavior Shield starting.
I personally think you're barking up the wrong tree by disabling startup items to fix this problem.

Sorry for the delayed update. I forgot I started this thread.
I ran the Repair utility, and that "seems" to have fixed it for now. I have yet to see the Behavior Shield fail to start up again.
Thank you for that recommendation.
