sbs 2003 Failed to boot after installed avast 4 server 4.7
« on: July 24, 2006, 06:04:35 AM »
I just installed Avast 4! server v4.7 on a sbs2003.  After reboot virus scanning stopped at c:/Program files/windows media player/ setup_wm.exe.  I have to turn off the power and try to restart it.  But it would not start up.  It just stopped after load bios.  The screen changed to black.

The server is Dell PowerEdge SC420.
Anyone has some suggestion?

The office emails come from this server, it can't be offline for long time.
Can I uninstall it from safe mode?

Thank you in advance.

Peter

I'm not sure I understand. Can you boot into Safe Mode?

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.

Do not install Avast 4! server edition on your buisness server!!

I posted my problem 2 days ago, but only Vlk responsed to me.

In fact it killed our server, Dell technician will come in to replace 2 160gb HDD.

Play this toy on test server only.  You can't get any help from Avast.

Well if they're coming to replace hard drives (e.g. hardware), it's really unlikely that avast could have been responsible for this.

I have to say I'm a bit confused; I'd like to help, but you're not providing me with enough information to find out where the problem is.

BTW I responded to your enquiry quite promptly, didn't I?

Thanks :)
