HELP - Agent-ANR in gamecomm dll
« on: July 24, 2006, 02:54:35 AM »
Hi!

I am using avast for xp64.  I also downloaded gamecomm (from gamecomm.com), software that lets u talk with other users with speakers and mic, often for internet gameing.

Avast reports that the GC.DLL file has malware, the

Win32:Agent-ANR [Trj] trogan horse.

Avast identifies this malware even upon installing the software, before I have even run gamecomm.  I know thousands of users have downloaded the same version as I have, and upon asking some of them, no one else's antivirus software has given the same warning avast has.

What gives?  Should I be worried?  -- OK OK, I should ALWAYS be worried, but should I be especially worried, or can I go use gamecomm?

THanks!

I am also getting this virus warning in my xp64 setup!

I downloaded a new program from a major Stock Analysis & Charting company that makes the leading stock charting program.  It is a new program that aids analyzing chart patterns.

I also show Win32:Agent-ANR [Trj] in a file called Xceed.Compression.dll

I put the file in the virus chest, but the program will not run w/o it.

Is this some sort of backdoor comm program that has a signature of a virus, or is it a "real" trojan.

I don't see this particular virus on any lists.

Is or isn't it to be trusted??

Thanks.

Roy

Hi slickums and none1 welcome to the Avast forums

to help determine if there is a real problem with the files you have mentioned I suggest that you run
extra checks using Online file Virus-scanners.
Upload the files in question to these sites:

Jotti Virus-Scan[/b]
or
VirusTotal Online-Scan[/b]

Windows 10 Pro | Intel I7 CPU | 16 Gig 2133 RAM | Avast beta 17.5.2295 | Firefox 54 b9(64-bit) | Cyberfox 52.1 | T-Bird 52.1.1 | SpyWareBlaster 5.5 | MalwareBytes 3.0.0.865 | WinPatrol 35.5.2 | GlassWire 1.2.100 | Cybereason Ransomfree 2.2.7 |  Pulla-dePlug Final!

Hi none1, slickums & tednelly,

Like to hear what the updating to jotti or virustotal did, SiteAdvisor say the site is clean though. Understood that the program, alas too big to be scanned by DrWeb hypertext scanner (that is the download link), is still in beta.
LinkScanner gave it as OK:
- LinkScanner Results
GreenCheck    Congratulations! LinkScanner did not find any exploits at:
http://www.gamecomm.com/download/client.aspx
Scanned:

So there is a possibility it is a FP.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.
