Uninstalled McAfee. Loaded Avast. Problem was driver support, which must have hitched on to a codec download that I needed for sound. Deep sixed driver support, ran malware scan, checked systems, uninstalled Avast, loaded McAfee. Did all this with HP Support. Avast should have caught the baddies in driver support, IMO.
Now I have a problem with Avast on my Toshiba. Will start a new thread.
