HiSuite update aborted
« on: January 02, 2019, 09:16:59 PM »
Hi, I just installed HiSuite (8.0.1.300_ove), and it immediately tried to update itself but was prevented from doing so by Avast. Below is a quote from the message I received.

"We've safely aborted connection on update.hicloud.com
because it was infected with URL:Mal
"

Not sure if this is a false positive, or not, and don't know how to tell. I tried to report it as a false positive on Avast's false positive report form, to see what they'd say, but it would not accept update.hicloud.com as a legitimate website, so that didn't work. The HiSuite program will not work at all without first downloading the update, and I would really like to be able to use it to back up my phone, etc. Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you write the full URL  ( http:// )  or just  ( update.hicloud.com )

I tried http:\\update.hicloud.com, https:\\update.hicloud.com, http:\\www.update.hicloud.com, https:\\www.update.hicloud.com,and just plain update.hicloud.com. They all result in being told to "Please insert a valid URL".

Doh! I just realized I was using back slashes instead of forward slashes  ::) Thanks for the reply...and also for not ridiculing me. God knows I deserved it.
