A recent promo I got for Avast's VPN said:
With a VPN, anything you send or receive online will be invisible to others.
That's not really accurate, is it? A VPN does a number of things - it makes it harder for someone to know where you are, or capture your info as it passes thru their fake hotspot - but, after your content passes thru the VPN node, it's no different than anything else you do on the web, right? Now, if you have a business VPN, that connects you securely to a VPN node inside that business's network, then that statement is probably true. But I don't think that's what Avast was selling...
