[Support] Weird Startup Following Update
« on: January 06, 2019, 10:10:52 PM »
Hiya,

I noticed today that Avast had not been updated in quite some time despite having automatic updates. It corresponds roughly with when I added a password to my settings area that updates stopped. So from settings I clicked to start a manual update

After it was done and rebooted my computer however, avast now launches weirdly. Two avast launch and two avast antivirus executables now display in the task manager at startup (with only one service executable). Further, trying to access the Avast UI prompts for my password straight away, whearas before it only would prompt for that if I had actually accessed settings as well. Is this expected behaviour for an update when Avast is password protected? Should I input my password when the UI launches?

Please let me know if I should give further information. Perhaps I'm being too cautious, but I don't see why it would suddenly ask for my password to access the UI.
