Interesting since I just did a clean reinstall approximately 24 hours ago and they required me to register! Now if they could just find a reason why the product shuts down randomly I might have a party!  :P

Thank you very much for the video, very informative!
I have a problem though, because even if you do exactly what you show in your video and I select the free license but after that Avast still tells me that my license is not active. Any ideas of why this happens?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

If renew now does nothing, and it probably will not, I'd try the following:

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

If you need additional help with the Clean Install, watch this:

The first method doesn't work for me. All I can do is Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast>Select Change. From there on I can only select "Switch back to Avast Free Antivirus" (that doesn't make any sense, I have the free version already. And even if I try to select that it doesn't change anything) or "Uninstall".

I guess I'll have to try the Clean Install.
Thank you very much for your time.
