'New Tab' default browser corrupted
« on: January 09, 2019, 02:09:36 PM »
Two days ago I noticed that my 'New Tab' default browser (Google) stopped functioning properly. Since then whenever I open a new tab the Google search screen appears, however the search box has a small rectangular box within the search box and it will not allow me to type anything in there. I have tried going in to Avast Browser Settings to manually update the search engine but with no luck, even deleting the existing default Google search engine within the 'Manage Search Engines' area and creating a new Google url, but this new url then does not appear in the drop down options so I am not able to select it.

Has anybody else had this happen or know what I can do to rectify the problem?

You could try 'Reset Settings'.

3 dots upper right>Settings>Click Advanced>Scroll down to 'Reset Settings'.

Advanced hides hidden advanced features which you will only see when you click it.

Best to back up your bookmarks and list extensions before you begin.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797

You're welcome.

Best to clear your ASB browser history after every session using Privacy Cleaner.  Ctrl+Shift+Delete.
