I hope I haven’t posted this in the wrong forum, if so, I will gladly move it, if someone will point me in the right direction.
Earlier today I noticed my windows 10 Lenovo Laptop was performing very poorly. Upon further investigation, I noticed that Avast was unable to connect with the host, for any of its updates, and had begun hogging large amounts of my CPU’s.
Having dealt with similar issues in the past, I decided uninstalling and then reinstalling with the latest version would be the quickest means to a fix.
I use Iobit uninstaller to uninstall programs and so forth, and during this uninstall process, I was presented with the option of Repairing Avast, so I chose to do that. It went through the repair process, and then Iobit uninstaller continued to finish its programming, and removed all programs having anything to do with Avast. But then it became stuck in the process creating a restore point, so I canceled the process.
When thing we’re complete, I noticed I still had the Avast Icon with the yellow triangle, and tried to update the program and virus definitions.... still nothing. So I decided to go back in and uninstall it again, but I couldn’t find the program in the Iobit uninstaller, or in the Add & Delete Programs.
So I downloaded the Avast Removal Tool, and tried to run it in Safe Mode, but get the error message “The stub cannot Run Installer”. I then tried downloading the latest version of Avast, and when it tries to install, I get the same error “The stub cannot Run Installer”.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
