VPN fails to connect no matter the location
« on: January 14, 2019, 06:00:54 PM »
So I am a long time user of Avast. I currently have Internet Security, Cleanup, Password and now VPN.
Unfortunately, VPN has decided to be the 1st Avast product for me that doesn't work.
I have gone through the troubleshoot; installed, re-installed, restarted, through Internet Security and downloading via the website alone. None of them seem to fix the problem. I've added it to both Window 10's Firewall and Avast's Firewall exclusions.

I just spent £35 quid on this and would really like it to work as my place of residence/work has stupid restrictions on it's IP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your actual location and what restrictions are you looking at?
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797
 UI version 1.0.788.  Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.2.6105 (build 24.1.8918.827) UI version 1.0.801

Plymouth, United Kingdom.
Numerous website restrictions and Picture/Video blocking based on the router settings that I can't access.

What does that have to do with the VPN not working?

Edit: Forgot to add that it's a Lenovo Laptop running on Windows 10.

Some countries are blocked.  UK is not one of them.

Your router settings are inaccessible?  You should be able to access your router, that's not normal, as you are responsible to maintain it and notify your ISP of any issues with it.

It would help if you provide brand, make and version of your router.

Like I mentioned before, it's kinda my Work's router/internet. There's housing onsite where I'm staying in and the internet is provided for us. It's just blocking me something fierce. That's why I was hoping that Avast's VPN would be a good fix.

Except, the VPN won't connect. No matter where I change the location to.

Work probably has restrictions for their own protection.
Does the VPN work when you're not at work ???

Haven't had a chance to try. Like I said, I'm living in accommodation that's onsite.
The VPN I use for my phone works just fine for the same network. It's only on the PC that I'm having difficulty with.

I'll give it a few days before giving it up as a lost cause and look for a refund.
